NUS Life Sciences Industry Seminar 2022

Inspiring the next generation of life sciences talent

CPR actively participates in outreach programmes with educational institutions as part of our contribution to Singapore’s science ecosystem. On 15 February 2022, CPR had the opportunity to present a talk as part of the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Life Sciences Industry Seminar series to inspire the next generation of life sciences talent.

The series provides Year 2 and Year 3 Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Food Science & Technology students from NUS with the opportunity to gain insights into the latest industry technologies, practices, challenges and solutions in the life sciences industry. Ultimately, this allows the students to get a head start in career planning.

The virtual seminar gave CPR a platform to engage with undergraduate students who were keen on pursuing a career in the field of biomedical sciences.

Through his presentation “Unlocking breakthroughs in drug discovery to address global unmet medical needs since 2012”, CPR CEO Hideaki Shimada provided the students with an overview of the process of innovation in drug discovery and shared the impact of CPR’s pioneering research in antibody engineering technologies. He also offered insights on career pathways in the biomedical sciences industry.

More than 100 students attended the seminar. They found the session informative and comprehensive. In particular, they appreciated the sharing of CPR’s past and present projects which not only demonstrated the impact of CPR’s research but also underscored the exciting prospects in store for the industry.
